Four weeks and counting down
Okay, since my last post, nothing have been done about my diet. I'm still stuck at a miserable 57-58kilos and getting desperate every day. My performance will be coming up very soon and I really need to get rid of that tummy to fit into my nice brand new white blouse. Even though it is important that I look good at the SC Asia Conference, I doubt I have enough time to do anything within these two weeks unless I totally abstain from food from now on. So, here's the next diet I'm going to try. One that actually works... well, I've heard people trying it.
So, starting today, I'm taking up my cereal once again.
Why it works
The cereal diet works on a simple concept that is the foundation of every diet. Cutting calories.
Replacing 2 meals with a bowl of cereal can dramatically reduce caloric intake when compared to your regular breakfast and lunch meals.
For example, a bagel with cream cheese may contain more than 500 calories, especially if you get your bagels from a bagel store or a bakery chain. Pancakes and eggs can be over 600 calories. If you order lunch from a delicatessen or restaurant your sandwich or burger with fries can be more than 700 calories. Contrast this with replacing 2 of your meals with cereal. Your breakfast and lunch will carry no more than 250 calories each. You can easily cut over 1000 calories per day.
So, why cereal and not something else with less calories?
Cereal is filling. Studies show that people who eat cereal for breakfast feel full for longer and tend to eat less during the rest of the day. The reason for this is the fiber content of most cereals. Fiber expands in your stomach and takes longer to break down. Cereal is also ideal for meal replacement because most brands are fortified with vitamins and you can still maintain adequate nutrition while cutting calories.
Though cereal is nutritious, anyone on a diet should consider taking a multivitamin every day.
