My own saas-fee pictures

hAHA, for the sake of Siying~ Well, these my actual Saas-fee pictures... actually you can find them in my photo album in my multiply page (the link is on the left), but well, I don't mind telling stories again LOL... i really miss those days!

Okay, this was taken when we reached Luzern. We were on our way from the airport to Saas-fee. We dropped by this place for lunch. Well, there wasn't much to eat there and the people there spoke mainly german...and at that time, I couldn't understand a word (actually, now also can't really understand much either =). The MacDonalds was rumored to be very expensive so we din't try.
We saw some band members walking past, so my friends and I decided to take a picture. Then, well... when the picture came out, it turned out to be a whole group of us...
Anyway, can you spot me? :-)

That place really had a nice background scenery. The lake looked so beautiful, coz it's not polluted LOL and well, you don't see a lake in Singapore... well, not a natural one...

These three pictures were taken along the way from Luzern to Saas-fee. It was about 4-5 hrs ride, if I did not remember wrongly... maybe even longer.
It was the first time I saw snow mountains. And I was really really excited!
The green mountains we were travelling past were beautiful but when I saw snow mountains ahead, I told my friend, 'I hope we are going there' and we did!
It wasn't very cold, maybe about 20 degree celcius but we took out jackets in case. But the lake there, well it was a small one, was freezing cold! And there were children swimming in it! Oh my goodness!

This was taken right at Saas-fee. The place on the left, not the Derby building... but on the left where it can't be seen, was where we stayed. We were surrounded by mountains. There were no cars there but small carts like the blue on behind. Hence, no noise or air pollution. The place is about 20 degrees celcius in the day and can drop to 5 at night. The place only turns dark after 8 plus. And sun rise at about 2-3 am...LOL, however, it only get bright at about 6. This picture was taken at about 6 plus, doesn't look like it right?
The sunlight there unlike Singapore is not so glaring and scorching.
The flies there are also super lethargic, u can kill them...LOL, guess it's too cold for them to fly fast.
This little village doesn't have much dustbins, but it's super clean. People really take good care of the place. So for us, when we had things to throw, we have to put in out pockets till we come across a bin. The pets there also don't anyhow bark...well, dogs I mean. And they have poop bags hang to the the lamp posts in case they need to clean up their pets' faeces... cool right! The best thing about this place is that you don't sweat, you can run a marathon and still feel fresh and not tired.
The street is completely dark at night, the people really stay indoors and rest early. But we did travel out at night, and well, can't even see out fingers. But I'll never forget the sky... the stars are so beautiful! There are really twinkling away and my teacher even taught us to the ... formation... can't remember what's it called... but wow!

This is our dining area. It's very cosy and warm. The place we lived in is not exactly a hotel, it's more a hostel. The hosts are super friendly and hospitable. One of the days, my teacher told them that we were homesick and longed for chicken rice, they really went to get rice and drumsticks for us...LOL
They had very good white wine fondue, but we dint know how to appreciate it... so sad... The cheese is so huge! Almost as big as a 5kg cake...and when you cut it, the knife can fly off if you are not careful!
The soups were also very nice.
But the best ones were the salads, seriously I got very sick of them coz we have them every meal (except breakfast) and they are so super rich... abit fattening...;-(

After our competition which we got silver, we got few days to enjoy ourselves before we head to Italy. We went to the peak whereby temperatures dropped below zero. I'm actually wearing 4 layers.
Behind us, people are actually skiing. My teacher was not supportive of us doing that so we could only loiter around. While we were there, we experienced avanlance again. Okok, not exactly experience, but we saw it happening to the mountain nearby and it was seriously scary.

We had time also to take pictures, build snowman and have snowfights as well.

Our main purpose there was actually to visit the ice palace. And it's seriously very cold, you can see smoke out of your mouth!
Many of us got frostbites after that...><

We also had one day spent in Zermatt, another nearby village. Ok, not exactly nearby, we had to travel out by coach first to the train station then take an hour train ride through the mountains... Haha, my first time taking a real train, not MRT train arh...

This was supposedly where the famous Matterhorn is. Actually, it's in the background. Oh, Matterhorn is a mountain LOL...
We were actually standing outside a church, but its on the left and cannot be seen... I quite like this picture but too bad I shut my eyes ...

As we shop around this place, we had the opportunity to see a real goatgirl... she was bringing a herd...(do you call them a herd?) of little goats... not those you see in the zoo, brown and big ones, but white with brown patches, seriously mountain goats... pretty little goats... but wow, after they left... there was a trail of shit on the ground... awww...

Before we flew back to Singapore, we stopped by Milan. On the way to Milan from Saas-fee, we passed by Geneva and experienced a hailstorm. I dint go down the coach because I was actually quite sick, but I heard from my friends that the ice that hit them was very painful.

We dropped by Venice for an hour or so in the evening but because most of the shops were closed, we dint get to buy anything. Although we tried to take pictures, they dint came out as nice. The place was so large and couldnt fit into the picture.

Most of the places we visited in Milan were the churches. They have really very nice churches, those catholic ones... where some of them used to be monastary or places where nuns lived. The architectural patterns are too breathtaking. Again, we tried to take picutures, but it's just like taking a giraffe upclose, you have to take it in parts, so in the end, I bought postcards instead...LOL...

Italy is very different from Swiss, coz I think Italy is more cosmopolitan and city-like. Swiss seems more country side... The air in Italy is back to normal and there's poop everywhere, you really have to mind where you step, otherwise your shoes are gone. The temperatures are back to normal as well, about 27degrees celcius. That's why we don't really like Italy, besides, we dint get to shop coz it was Sunday, and they are closed!

This was the cathedral we went on our last day. Magnificent isn't it? It's simply impossible to take a good picture unless you stand far far away.
I can't remember if I went in... but they do have strict rules about entering.
No sleeveless, no slippers and no shorts or mini skirts.
So next time you travel to Europe and intend to go into these places, remember to have sensible clothes! ;-)

Next to the Cathedral, which is called Duomo, you can find this shopping mall. The interior reminds me of Parco...LOL, transparent ceiling.
But it like shopping in Takashimaya, where you find Gucci, Armani, Versace and stuff... things that are, well, way beyond our budget...maybe for the moment =)
